Barb Davidson, owner of Embroidery For You! St. Louis, was featured in the St. Louis Post Dispatch Made in St. Louis section on Sunday, May 15, 2011. Here is an excerpt of the article.
What she makes: Barbara is an apparel and gift decorator specializing in embroidery and monogramming for commercial and individual customers at Embroidery For You!
• How did your business start? I started the business in October of 2009. I had always wanted my own business and had been interested in embroidery and monogramming on a personal level for some time. After a long career of achieving goals in corporate America and being recently remarried, I thought it was time to fulfill a personal goal of starting and growing my own business. I’m having a great time, and I learn something new every day.
• What are your embroidery prices? When a commercial customer or individual has a specific logo or design they want embroidered, it needs to be digitized (the process of converting a picture or graphic file into a stitch file for the embroidery machine to read). This can range from $10 to $100 plus, depending on the size of the design and number of stitches. Embroidery fees can range from $4 to $10 depending again on the complexity and size of the design. These are industry standards and always based on the amount of stitches. I am affiliated with several vendors in order to offer a variety of apparel and gift items should a client desire to purchase the merchandise from me or I am also happy to accept a client’s own merchandise.
• Do you have a favorite activity? I love to cook when time allows, especially around holidays for gatherings with friends and family.
