Screen Printing

Screen printing is a great, cost effective way to promote your business, club, or special event.   Usually done on T-shirts, it can help get you noticed at a fraction of the cost of embroidery or other promotional items.   Who doesn’t have a screen printed T-shirt in their wardrobe?  Pricing is based on quantity (as quantity goes up, pricing goes down).   Minimum of 15 pieces and vector artwork is needed;   EFU can create vector files from the artwork you supply.

Screen printing is a method in which ink is applied directly to the surface to be printed (substrate/apparel). The image to be printed is photographically transferred to a very fine fabric (the screen) such that the non-printing areas are blocked off and the fabric serves as a stencil. The ink is wiped across the screen to pass through the unblocked pores and reach the substrate. For each color to be printed a separate screen is prepared and the process is repeated. Screen printing involves creating a stencil (printers call this a “screen”), and then using that stencil to apply layers of ink on the printing surface. Each color is applied using a different stencil, one at a time, combined to achieve the final look.

Screen printing is the best option for designs that require a high level of vibrancy, when printing on dark shirts, or for specialty products. The ink in screen printing is applied thicker, which results in brighter colors even on darker shirts. Minimum number of items is 15 due to creation of template(s). Screen printing pricing decreases when the quantity of items to be screen printed increases.

Vector artwork is required (Adobe Illustrator (.ai). If you do not have vector artwork, Embroidery For You! is happy to assist and this will be added to the set-up fee. Ideally, the artwork will be in the color(s) and size of the design to be screen printed. If you have a graphic artist who created your design or logo, they can easily provide vector files.

When ordering, we need to know the color of the apparel as well as the color(s) of ink that will be used in the final design.

Whether you’re curious about the cost of your potential order or the price difference between different designs or products, Embroidery For You! is always here to provide a quick, accurate price quote with no obligation to buy.
Your price is primarily determined by three things:
1. The apparel you select to be screen printed
2. The total number of ink colors needed for printing.
3. The total quantity of items in your order.
Other factors such as personalization (adding personalized names and/or numbers to your items) or special requests also affect the cost.

Savings tip: The easiest way to reduce the cost per item is to increase the quantity of your order. Consider ordering a few extras to maximize your savings. Reducing the number of ink colors in your design can also lead to significant savings.
